Designed for Growth and Accessibility
Our teaching practices and classroom environments are intentionally designed to support all students as they access the California Academic Standards—those who require more time, those who need extra challenges, and everyone in between.
At Camino Grove, students receive:
- High-quality core instruction based on standards and informed by assessment and observation.
- Targeted support through scaffolds and small group instruction to help students build specific skills.
- Individualized instruction for students needing more intensive support, in addition to core learning.
We use the following research-based practices to universally design for student growth and accessibility:
- Thinking Maps: Help students visually organize their thoughts and apply academic language. Click here to see examples.
- Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI): Encourages students to explain and share their mathematical thinking in meaningful ways. Click here to see examples.
- Small Group Instruction: Teachers meet with small groups to personalize instruction, build strong connections, and provide timely feedback.
- Leader in Me: Empowers every student to lead through goal-setting, reflection, and personal growth. Click here to read more.
- Restorative Circles: Fosters a classroom community and supports problem-solving in both academic and social contexts, so students learn with and from one another.
Strong Partnerships with Families
We believe students grow best when schools and families work closely together. Here are some of the ways we partner with you:
Communication
- Classroom & School Newsletters, Principal’s Updates, PTA Caminotes (via Konstella): These tools help families stay informed and engaged.
- Email & Voicemail: You may email your child’s teacher or leave a voicemail using the format: dial 53 + the 2-digit classroom number (e.g., Room 4 = 5304).
Teacher-Parent Conferences
Parents may request a conference at any time by contacting the teacher or school office. These meetings are opportunities to collaborate on your child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Student-Led Conferences
Students take the lead in sharing their learning journey, reflecting on their growth, and setting future goals. They present their progress using portfolios and self-assessment tools.
Student Study Team (SST)
When additional support is needed, an SST meeting can be requested by either the parent or teacher. This team includes educators and specialists who work with the parent to identify strengths and areas of need. Together, a personalized general education plan is developed to support the student’s academic, social, or behavioral development.
During an SST meeting, parents are asked to share:
- Relevant health or developmental background
- Observations of their child’s strengths and challenges
- Concerns about learning, behavior, or social-emotional well-being
The team sets specific goals, identifies supports, and monitors progress regularly. Follow-up meetings ensure that the plan remains effective and responsive to the student’s needs.
Let’s continue partnering to support every child’s success!
