September 2, 2022

Hello Camino Grove Families and Students,

We appreciate the collaboration and hard work, on everyone’s part, as we all refine the flow to our school day routines. By day 7, students became more confident in their school day, while parents identified best routes and meeting spots. It takes a “common unity!” Thank you.

calendarMark your calendars

September will require adjustments to our regular school routines.

    • September 5th, no school due to Labor Day
    • September 9th, First Grade Ice Cream Social, 5:30 pm to 7 pm, at the lunch pavillion
    • September 12th, PTA Meeting at 6:15 pm in the MPR. This is a great opportunity to meet Camino Grove parents. Also, you get to learn about future events happening in the following months.
    • September 15th, will be the first district-wide Collaboration Day Dismissal for students is 11:40 a.m., while teachers continue their work day by collaborating with colleagues throughout the district.
    • September 22nd, student dismissal will be at 12:27 p.m., while Camino Grove teachers collaborate and learn to support continuous learning and reflections.
    • September 23rd, no school for students

Due to the new California Universal Free Meal Program, the following is required for the shortened school days:

  • Right at School and Arcadia Recreation, students who remain on campus will have the opportunity to pre-order sack lunches by notifying their program. These after-school programs will ensure your child receives a sack lunch.

  • For all other students, lunches will be available to pre-order the Monday before Collaboration Day or Minimum Day. Due to new state and federal mandates around the student lunch program, we are no longer allowed to offer "to go" sack lunches for students picked up after school by their parent or guardian. Due to these mandates, lunches must be eaten on campus in the lunch pavilion. After dismissal, parents will walk their children to the lunch pavilion area, walk through the cafeteria and supervise their children eating lunch.

Camino Grove

  • Right at School

Gracias.

calendar Marque sus calendarios

Septiembre requerirá ajustes a nuestras rutinas escolares regulares

School Supplies: Teachers will provide your child with the supplies needed. Your teacher will provide all necessary supplies. However, we know that shopping for school supplies can be fun and exciting for kids and mark that change in the year when school begins. You are welcome to purchase school supplies for your child at home or bring them to school. If your child chooses to bring items to school, please be sure to clearly label all items with your child’s name to prevent confusion in the classroom. Your teachers may also have some suggested, grade-level specific items that they will share with you on Back-to-School. If there is ever any concern with purchasing an item for your child, please contact your child’s teacher so we can work with you to address your concern.

Chromebooks: Returning students in grades 2-5 will bring their charged Chromebooks in the carrying case to school. New students will receive a Chromebook. The teacher will inform your child of class protocols and routines for the Chromebooks.

Health Protocols: We continue to observe and comply with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health COVID protocols for TK-12 schools. If protocols and guidance change, so will we.

  • COVID Compliance Team will continue to educate and implement safety measures.
  • Regular good hand hygiene practices will be enforced school-wide. Hand sanitizing stations remain in each classroom, as well as around campus.
  • While not mandatory, face masks are available for any child/adult who wishes to wear one.

Lunches: School lunches are free. Click here for more information. Bringing a home lunch is an option as well. Lunches may not be dropped off after the start of school.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:

Parents may walk their children to class on the first day, Thursday, August 18. After the first day, students will need to follow the arrival procedures.

School parking lot mapMorning Drop-off: Let’s work together to get our kids to school safely and show our kids that we respect our neighbors and our city’s laws. Drive through the entrance on the West driveway. Slowly drive your car forward before unloading students in front of the kindergarten and school office buildings.

-Your child should not arrive on campus before 7:50 am, as there is no adult supervision before this time. 1-5 waiting area

- Upon arrival, grades 1-5 students will proceed to the blue tables in the lunch pavilion. Supervision is provided.

TK/K waiting area- TK & Kindergarten students will sit on the ledge of the planters in the courtyard, where supervision is provided until their teacher picks them up to take them to the classroom.
SELPA waiting area
- SELPA students should arrive at the main gate, east of the student’s arrival in this area.

- Exit at the East driveway.

Park and Walk: If you plan to park and walk your student to the front of the school, please park in the visitor parking on the two northernmost lanes in the school lot. After parking, walk your student past the center driveways to the inside crosswalk. For the safety of your children, do not walk through the parking lot. Students walking to school from Fifth or Sixth Avenue may use the sidewalk by the West driveway. Walkers from Eighth Avenue may use the sidewalk by the East driveway. Sixth Avenue is not a school entrance; for everyone’s safety, the gates on Sixth Avenue are locked.

After school pick up mapAfternoon Pickup:

- Students must be picked up immediately after school, no later than 2:50 pm, 2:00 pm on early release days, 11:55 on Collaboration Days, or 12:45 pm on minimum days.

- We are concerned with the safety of all children. Supervision is not provided after the above-listed times. Prearrange and discuss with your child how dismissal will happen before they arrive at school and if there are any changes in this routine.

Sample car sign for student pickup
- Before approaching the carline, place the name of your student and grade level on the right side of the dashboard. If you did not create this signage at Roadrunner  Day, please create such signage with your child’s first name, last name, and grade level, so our Camino Grove Team can easily read it. Slowly drive your car as far forward as possible before loading students. No waiting or parking in loading areas (these also serve as fire lanes). This process will help us move the carline quickly and safely. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this process.

- Another meeting area for students in grades 1-5 is on the west side of the Multipurpose Room. The gate will be unlocked 5 minutes before dismissal. Parents walking can meet their child in the lunch pavilion. Parents should not go past the maps painted on the asphalt or the lunch pavilion.

Bus Riders and After School Programs: Teachers will support your child to the appropriate dismissal spot. Please review this process with your child as well.

PTA Meet and Greet: August 18th, 9 am- 10 am in the Multipurpose Room, join PTA and meet other parents. Click here for more information.

I am here for you; please do not hesitate to connect with me.
